The terrifying moment a blaze ripped through a Scots family home while neighbours screamed 'get out' has been caught on camera.

Locals in Edinburgh reported being woken up by neighbours screaming for them to get out of their homes as flames tore through a property at the Torrance Park.

A video shared by an eye witness shows flames shooting out of the flat's windows on the top floor as smoke can be seen billowing out of the block. Firefighters are spraying hoses into the impacted landing from below as they try to get the raging inferno under control.

One local reported thick black smoke filling their home as they raced to evacuate their family. They also reported witnessing one resident of the block having to be rescued by emergency service personnel.

Emergency services received reports of the blaze around 1.40am on Tuesday April 15. Six fire engines and one height appliance were reportedly sent to the scene, reports Edinburgh Live.

The blaze was extinguished at 4.17am and the last crew left at 6.13am. There were no reported casualties.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We had call at 1.40am to Torrance park, Edinburgh.

"It was a fire within a flat. It went up to six pumps and one height appliance. The fire was extinguished at 4.17am and the last crew left at 6.13am.

"There were was no casualties reported."

Elsewhere in the capital, in a separate incident, a pair of teenage girls have been arrested and charged after incidents of vehicles being deliberately set alight.

The fires occurred at around 11.30pm on Friday, April 11, in Stenhouse. Police said the teens, aged 15 and 17, were arrested following a blaze on Saughton Mains Park, and another on Whitson Road.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched one appliance, and left the scene after the flames were put out. It is understood nobody was injured.

A picture taken from the scene of one of the fires shows a car completely engulfed by flames, with thick grey smoke billowing into the night sky.

It is parked on a residential street, and appears to be dangerously close to houses and other cars.

Prior to this, a gym which had only just opened was hit devastating blaze which destroyed a nearby storage warehouse.

Fearless Gym in Musselburgh, East Lothian, was forced to shut its doors in the aftermath of the inferno after only opening in February, after fire crews worked tirelessly through the night to battle the blaze at a storage warehouse in Musselburgh which broke out at around 12.30am on Tuesday, March 11.

Images of the aftermath taken later on Tuesday morning showed the warehouse reduced to a hollowed-out shell, with most of its roof and internal structure completely gone.
